Masterpieces of Chamber Music – Concert in Bank Austria Salon Vienna
March 22, 2026
This week, the Lyatoshynsky Trio performed at the Bank Austria Salon in the Altes Rathaus in Vienna in a sold-out concert that was met with great attention and engagement from the audience.
The program brought together Johannes Brahms’ Piano Trio No. 1 and Borys Lyatoshynsky’s Piano Trio No. 1, creating a dialogue between the Austro-German romantic tradition and Ukrainian modernism. In doing so, the concert highlighted both the individuality of Lyatoshynsky’s musical language and its deep connections to the broader European context.
A distinctive element of the evening was the second half, featuring improvisations in trio format. This marked a new artistic direction for the ensemble and was received with remarkable openness and enthusiasm.
The evening also included a book table featuring Art Against Artillery by Olha Volynska, offering audiences further insight into the current cultural life of Ukraine.
In addition, the concert supported the children’s orchestra of the Kharkiv Music Fest, a project dedicated to providing young musicians with access to musical education and ensemble experience.
The performance reflects the ensemble’s ongoing commitment to presenting Ukrainian music in Europe and fostering a deeper understanding of its cultural and artistic significance.
